Podless runs open source apps for you. Pick one from the catalogue, click start, and it runs — as your own instance on servers in the EU. No server, no Docker, no updates by hand.

Who is behind it

Podless is run by Ryvelia UG (haftungsbeschränkt), based in Zwenkau near Leipzig, Germany, led by Kimon Neuhoff. Registered office, commercial register and everything else are in the imprint.

Why Podless exists

For almost everything people use daily there is an open app: Immich for photos, Paperless for documents, Actual for budgeting. They are good, they belong to nobody, and they do not sell you on.

The catch: they want to be operated. Rent a server, learn Docker, renew certificates, set up backups, check after every update that things still run. That is a hobby, and not everyone has it.

Podless sits in between: you get the app, we take care of the rest. The software stays the same open software — you can leave with it at any time.

How we make money

With the resources your app needs: CPU and memory by the hour while it runs, storage per month. No price per user, no tiers with features behind them, no ads, no tracking, no trade in data. You load a balance and spend it; what you did not load cannot be charged.

20 % for projects in the partner programme

The apps in the catalogue are written by small teams or single people, mostly alongside a job and funded by donations. With projects that want it, we enter a partnership: 20 % of what their app earns here then goes to the project. It does not apply automatically to every app in the catalogue — that is the project’s call. How it works is under For developers.

How we work

• Everything runs in the EU: servers in Germany and France, bulk storage in Frankfurt.
• New versions of an app run on our own instances before they reach yours.
• Every app runs in its own environment, with its own database and fixed limits.
• Backups are written daily and encrypted into storage that belongs to you.
• We do not look inside your apps. We see how much compute one draws, not what is in it.
• Leaving is easy: files over SFTP, the database with your credentials, and the same software keeps running on any server of your own.
